Built in Fredericton, New Brunswick

Contractor-made software for people who actually run the work.

BuildCurrent was built from the contractor side of the desk. It exists to help contractors spend less time moving the same information between disconnected tools and more time running jobs, serving customers and growing a healthy business.

Our origins

It started with a real contracting operation in Fredericton.

BuildCurrent grew out of the day-to-day reality of contractor work in Fredericton, New Brunswick: leads coming in, estimates going out, jobs moving onto the calendar, crews needing information, expenses piling up, invoices waiting to be sent and customers wanting updates.

The problem was not a lack of software. It was that too much of the software lived in separate places. Customer information would be entered in one tool, schedule details in another, job notes somewhere else and financial information again somewhere else.

BuildCurrent was created to solve that problem from the inside out. Instead of starting with a generic software template and asking contractors to adapt to it, the platform has been shaped around the workflow of real contracting businesses.

Our mission

Make running a contracting business simpler without making the business simplistic.

Give contractors practical operations software that keeps their information connected, reduces duplicate work and makes professional business operations accessible to small and growing teams.

That means the customer should not have to be recreated when an estimate becomes a job. The job should not have to be recreated when it reaches the calendar. Billing should know what happened in the job. The customer portal should reflect the same records the contractor already uses. Information should move with the work.

What we are building toward

Our goals are practical.

BuildCurrent is not trying to make contractors work like a software company. The software should adapt to the operation and remove friction from the parts that do not need to be difficult.

One source of truth

Customers, estimates, jobs, schedules, time, expenses, invoices, payments and communication should stay connected so information entered once can be reused everywhere it belongs.

Useful to small contractors

Professional operations software should not be reserved for large companies. Starter gives a solo contractor room to run real work for free, while paid tiers add capacity as the operation grows.

Strong enough to grow with the business

A company should not need to abandon its operations platform the moment it hires people, adds crews or needs stronger accounting, permissions, reporting and customer workflows.

Less administration, better visibility

Automation should carry information forward, surface what needs attention and reduce repetitive entry—not create another layer of busywork for the owner or crew.

Built around real contractor feedback

The platform will keep evolving through actual use, demonstrations and conversations with contractors. Features need to solve operating problems, not exist just to make a feature list longer.

Earn trust as we grow

Tenant isolation, permissions, auditability, secure customer access and authoritative server-side data are part of the product foundation. Growth should not come at the expense of reliability or customer control.

How we think about the product

Contractor first. Connected by default.

Enter it once.

If BuildCurrent already knows something, another screen should use that information instead of asking a user to type it again.

Keep the workflow moving.

A lead should be able to become an estimate, a job, an invoice and a payment without losing the history that came before it.

Build for the field and the office.

The owner, estimator, bookkeeper, manager and crew need different views of the same operation—not different versions of the truth.

BuildCurrent is being built in Fredericton with an intentionally simple goal: create contractor operations software we wanted to use ourselves, then keep making it better as more contractors put it to work.
